Adrian Cadogan — Founder & CEO

Adrian Cadogan is the Founder and CEO of UbumWi, a trust-based platform connecting people, businesses, organisations and institutions across the global African and Caribbean diaspora.

With a background in leading complex transformation programmes, Adrian has spent his career helping organisations deliver large-scale change, improve governance and build sustainable operating models. That experience shaped his belief that technology alone is not enough to create meaningful economic opportunity. Trust, transparency and reliable information are equally important.

He founded UbumWi to address a problem he repeatedly observed: discovering credible businesses, professionals and institutions across the diaspora was fragmented, inconsistent and often dependent on personal networks. UbumWi was created to provide a trusted, evidence-based platform that helps people discover, verify and connect with confidence.

Adrian leads the platform’s strategy, product direction and long-term vision as it continues to expand internationally.

Biography

Adrian Cadogan is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of UbumWi, a platform dedicated to strengthening trusted connections across the global African and Caribbean diaspora.

His professional background spans programme leadership, business transformation and governance, where he has led complex initiatives involving technology, operational change and organisational delivery. Throughout his career, he has focused on bringing structure to complex problems, aligning stakeholders around shared objectives and ensuring that ambitious programmes translate into measurable outcomes.

While working across different sectors and international environments, Adrian recognised a recurring challenge. Although the African and Caribbean diaspora represents significant entrepreneurial talent, professional expertise and economic influence, there was no single trusted place where individuals, businesses, institutions and organisations could be discovered with confidence. Existing platforms often prioritised visibility over credibility, making it difficult to distinguish between presence and trust.

That observation became the foundation for UbumWi.

Rather than building another directory, Adrian’s vision was to create trust infrastructure. The platform is designed to help users discover verified businesses, organisations, professionals and institutions while providing greater transparency around the evidence that supports trust. The objective is to reduce friction, improve confidence and strengthen economic connections across countries and communities.

Under Adrian’s leadership, UbumWi has grown into a platform containing thousands of business and institutional profiles spanning multiple countries. The platform continues to evolve with a strong emphasis on data quality, governance and responsible growth. Every enhancement is measured against a simple principle: does it increase confidence for the people using the platform?

Adrian believes that trust should be earned through evidence rather than assertion. This philosophy has influenced both the technical architecture of the platform and the governance processes behind it. Features are introduced through structured review, decisions are documented, and improvements are tested against clearly defined standards before being released.

As Founder and CEO, Adrian remains directly responsible for the platform’s strategic direction, product vision and operational leadership. Working closely with specialist advisors where appropriate, he continues to guide UbumWi’s development with a long-term focus on creating infrastructure that serves businesses, institutions and communities across the global African and Caribbean diaspora.

His ambition is to map the global African and Caribbean network and provide trusted access to the people, businesses, organisations and institutions that shape it. By combining trusted information with accessible technology, Adrian aims for UbumWi to become the trusted infrastructure that helps individuals, communities and institutions discover opportunities, build meaningful relationships and strengthen economic connections across the diaspora.

In their words

I founded UbumWi because I believe trust is one of the greatest barriers to economic opportunity. Across the global African and Caribbean diaspora there are extraordinary people, businesses, organisations and institutions, yet discovering and accessing them often depends on who you know rather than what you can verify.

My ambition is to map the global African and Caribbean network and provide trusted access to the people, businesses, organisations and institutions that shape it. I want UbumWi to become the trusted infrastructure that helps individuals, communities and institutions discover opportunities, build meaningful relationships and strengthen economic connections across the diaspora.
